Das Kloster Le Celle bei Cortona ist eine franziskanische Einsiedelei. Sie wurde 1211 von Franziskus gegründet.
Franziskus besuchte Le Celle erneut 1215 zum Osterfest und zum letzten Mal in seinem Todesjahr 1226 auf seiner Reise nach Assisi.
Ab 1235 erweiterte der Franziskaner-Generalminister Fra Elias von Cortona die Ursprungszelle um weitere fünf Zellen, ein Oratorium und ein Refektorium, so bestand die Niederlassung etwa hundert Jahre.
1537 übergab Bischof Leonardo Bonafide den Ort an den 1528 gegründeten franziskanischen Reform - Orden der Kapuziner, die es erweiterten und für 500 Jahre dort ihren Noviziatsort hatten. Seit einigen Jahren beherbergt Le Celle im Rahmen des "Projekt Europa"die internationale Kapuzinerbruderschaft "San Lorenzo von Brindisi".
